Has my graphics card failed? rMBP

Last night I went to play some civ and as soon as it stared up and switched to discrete graphics it got all distorted. Don't really know how to describe it, heres a screen shot. Only happens on discrete card setting and tried resetting smc and nvram, no luck. halp.

Nvm I see it in other spots. Your going to have to take that laptop to apple.

Yep, looks like a failed GPU to me Try running a stress test (e.g. one of the Unigine benchmarks)

Seems like it. Be glad it's still under warranty.

The genius at the apple store told me it was most likely a software problem and to reinstall osx and bring it back if it continues. I find it hard to believe this is a software related problem. Hopefully i am wrong.
