In March I imported my journal into Apple Notes and set the Notes app to sort by date created, rather than date edited. I was able to scroll through my ‘Journal’ folder and the date on each note was the date created, going back 5 years.

Has iOS 14 changed the behaviour here, because now as I scroll through my journal I get to a certain point and all the dates in the notes list show the same date - the date I imported them.

To see the date I created each note I have to open each note and it displays the created date at the top. But this means it’s really hard to scroll back to a date by going through the main list, as beyond a certain point they all show March 20th 2020 (date last edited, not date created).

This is really frustrating and feels like a bug, but I’m scared it’s by design as a change in iOS 14.

Or am I missing something?

Not being able to change the creation date in Notes has always been a bother to me.

Not an answer to your question, but a workaround: Every single note I make starts with the date in the title, formatted YYYY-MM-DD. I set sort to alphabetical and everything appears in chronological order. I have a shortcut to create new notes with the title of the date, and a keyboard shortcut that has the current year and month, so I only have to put in the day.
