According to Apple's link https://support.apple.com/guide/mac...nd decide how to optimize storage on your Mac. It should be under Settings/General/Storage but I don't have it, mine looks like the picture, different from Apple's picture. Is it gone?

It is in mine between the bar at the top and the list of Apps, etc.

Maybe "Recommendations" doesn't appear when you have so much free space (just guessing).

EDIT realise OP question is specifically about the Recommendations “Optimise” which I have never used. I have only used “Optimise“ in Settings > Account name > iCloud > Drive > Optimise and Photos app > Settings > iCloud > Optimise which give macOS permission to replace docs and photos in iCloud with pointers if space is low.

I dont want macOS removing things because I have watched them.

It is a pity macOS uses “Optimise“ for two very different things!

PS My Recommendations screen is like @gilby101 ’s

You’re hardly storing anything on that drive. There’s nothing to optimize.

I just set up a new MacBook Air M4 using macOS Sequoia 15.5

I do not have any option to optimize Mac storage

here is a screenshot of: System Settings>General>Storage

Here is a screenshot of: Apple Account>iCloud+>Manage

When I click "iCloud Drive" therein, it just shows this:

Has anyone figured out where the "Optimise Storage" button has gone?

Thank you
