I purchased a leather Smart Cover on eBay 10 days ago. It was sent via USPS with priority tracking.
All good so far. Tracking confirmed it arrived in UK Customs on March 25th.
It was here, where the information stopped.
No delivery thus far. How long do UK Customs hold items for and does anyone know where can I enquire about it?

Thanks in advance.

Things can sit in customs for a while .... sometimes i've found that something was reporting via tracking as still in customs but had moved onto the delivery company.

All you can do is contact the company who handles USPS's UK side but you might find the tracking stops once it hits UK anyway.

It arrived at customs on a Friday… right now it is still Monday morning. As far as I know those lazy buggers do not work over weekends. ;)

It will probably be processed today and delivered sometime this week.
It hasn't been lost or stolen — yet. That is up to the man in the Royal Mail van. :)

Could take a while. If it's checked it wont be in and our of customs quickly...

Out of interest, why purchase a leather smart cover from overseas via eBay when Apple stores have them in abundance...?

I bought it on the 16th, hoping it would be with me on or before the 25th.

I ordered a Bodyguardz which is being sent via usps, it sais:

"processing through sort facility, march 16, 2011, 7:38 pm SALT LAKE CITY, UT 84199"
"Electronic Shipping Info Recieved, March 17, 2011"

And thats the last time it was updated. I'm beginning to think it aint turning up lol

Hi,

I ordered my iPads and smart covers through a friend in the US.

He ordered it online from the apple store early morning on the 11th, and it didn't arrive in Washington till Monday 21st.

Was posted out on Tuesday 22nd at 11am, left the US on Tuesday evening and then there was no tracking updates till Friday 25th. I got so worried than $2000+ had gone missing and I even rang USPS and they said it should have been scanned on arrival at LHR.

Anyway, it was processed through customs on the 25th afternoon, then made it's way to the London North West depot around 2am on Saturday 26th.

I rang the depot and they said as I had paid for parcelforce24, the item would be delivered on the next working day. I asked if i could pay for saturday delivery or even come pick it up and they said no.

The status now shows " On delivery vehicle". So fingers crossed, I should get it by 5.30pm today!

Try putting your USPS tracking number into the parcelforce website and tick the box for international delivery. Or try the royal mail website.

Tell me about it. That's why despise USPS. FedEx and UPS are worldwide, so they provide dispatch-to-door tracking.

Thanks, I'll try that. :)

And you're sure its was USPS not UPS? or any other company?

USPS mail is picked up by Parcelforce (large items) or Royal Mail (small items) only!

Not 100% sure lol. When I check order information, it sais "Shipping Method - UPS Mail Innovations". But when I click on track order, it sais "carrier - United States Postal Service", which I guess is USPS? (I haven't used UPS, or USPS, before lol)

I just checked the UPS site too and no tracking info on there either.

So you despise the US Postal Service because they don't deliver to your door in another country? In the US they do provide tracking info door to door, but since they are a national postal service, it is impossible for them to provide door to door service internationally. Unfortunately, a lot of US sites only use USPS, so we are stuck having to use it. I think it's less hassle for the company.

Sorry, I worded that wrongly. I hate having items delivered via USPS because they're US only. I don't hate them particularly. :)

Anyways, the Parcelforce thing worked. Item is "in progress", via their National hub.
Many thanks, Aravintht. :)

UPS Mail Innovations is an annoying cost-saving delivery method UPS has been employing. The package is picked up by UPS (the brown truck company) and routed through their network to the destination city, then handed over to the US Postal Service for "last mile" delivery.

I am unsure how that works with international shipments, my guess would be that UPS gives the shipment to USPS at the point where it would leave the country.

I guess you get what you pay for lol, there was like 3 or 4 delivery options. 1 was around $8 and the others were around $70, yes $70!

So I went for the £8 heh :D

Don't get too panicked. USPS doesn't update when it changes locations typically. Just when it gets to final sorting facility.
