I'm looking to order a Macbook Pro in the next few days but I have one thing putting me off, as mentioned in the title.

I know quite a few people with MBP's and 2 of them have had there Apple logo on the lid come loose. Now I don't know if this is a really rare and just a crazy coincidence that I knew 2 people with the issue or if it's a common problem.

The reason I make this thread is cause they both had a nightmare to get Apple to warranty it as they said "we don't cover cosmetic damage".

So yeah, have you? If so did you manage to get it sorted out?

If it comes loose because of a defect, they'll cover it. If it's because of accident or wear and tear, they won't.

How you can tell the difference between a defect/wear and tear though?

The way I see it is that if you pay £900 for a notebook it should stick together for at least the first year.

I've had mine close to 2 years and have had exactly zero problems. The problem you reference is extremely rare.

how can it come off?

do u have pics to the macbooks that had their logo came loose?

On mine, the logo is made of a clear acrylic type of material, maybe plastic. It is a big piece of plastic that is held (glued?) into place behind the lid. I don't know about the unibody, but for mine to do what is in the video, i would have to purposely cause it to come loose.
