For a Mac newbie, even I know this is a common issue.

And yup, mine's stuck as we speak. How long have I owned an iMac? If you've seen a few of my threads here then you'll know that I've only had my (new) iMac (and therefore, Mighty Mouse) for less than two weeks. This is almost comical. I don't know whether it'll right itself (it's gotten stuck briefly before)... I guess I'll find out.

I mean, I love the mouse otherwise, but come on.

Mine got stuck after 7 months of use but I cleaned it after having not bothered for about 3 months and now it works fine for about a month now.

Ok, I've unclogged it (again) for now-- found this on a blog that seems to have worked for me:

I also love the Bluetooth MM since the scroll ball is quite smooth...when it works. Here's a cleaning technique I use when my MM's ball is stuck (mine almost always sticks in the "scroll-up" direction). Locate a microfiber cloth, like one used to clean your glasses. Place it on a flat surface; I use a mouse pad or a hardback book. Hold it taut with your thumb and fore finger. Turn your mouse over and angle it so that the ball is flat against the cloth. Finally, rub the mouse vigorously back and forth in the clogged direction. I'll often have a large web page or some document on screen. When the ball unclogs you'll see the window scroll in both directions.

Do they exchange them at the Apple stores?
Yes, if under warranty.

If it came with your system, it is covered under your system's AppleCare; if you bought it as a separate purchase, it's covered for 1 year.

Either way, they try to clean it first, then, if they can't you get a new one. ...If you want to avoid this chance, call up AppleCare and exchange it by mail.

(Trust me, I'm an expert at this now.) :D :(

Good to know for the future :D

I know this issue ain't going to go away :eek:

My mighty Mouse saw the trash can after 1 hour. Useless, horribly designed mouse. Logitech MX Revo for the win.

Mighty Mouse features.
ergonomics = no
accuracy = no
function = no
design = no
gaming use = hahaha no (especially considering you cant left and right click at the same time, and there is no feedback on the scrolling)

Actually, I have no qualms about the Mighty Mouse aside from this. I know a lot of people loathe it though.

The scrollball is beautiful when it works. It is also a little small, but that's not a full complaint from me.

Now, I could see how it would be awful for gaming-- but I don't computer game (Xbox 360 ftw!), so it doesn't apply to me.
