i'd be all sorts of happy if it got here saturday but its not looking good is it..?

scratch that.. i have issues. After i noticed that the benchmarks for the 2.26 started to bump up from what was previously published i couldnt resist.. canceled my quad. Ordering the base octo. Unfortunately i have inherited my fathers issues with money and anything this expensive causes me endless anxiety and flip flopping :p

Are you planning to do anything that uses more than 4 cores at once? If you aren't and don't need the extra RAM, then you're making a mistake (cost/performance wise). And it's only about 30% slower multi-tasking than the octo.

I ordered my baseline 2.66 Quad 15 minutes after the apple store re-opened on the 3rd.

It didn't ship until yesterday, and I went with ground. My last experience ordering something from Apple with "ground" was EXCELLENT. I guess they must have some distribution in Memphis (at least for Time Capsules) because it was on the truck that day and in my house 2 days later. This time unfortunately, it is coming from Ontario :(

March 16...

I'm a designer.. i was mostly concerned about my ram requirements for photoshop.. and also, part of the big reason im getting a mac pro now is that i want to get into 3d modeling/animation. Since these are a few of the programs that i know can take advantage of the extra cores i feel like i need to go octo and not be limited to 8 gigs
