Apple is now selling the Hatch Restore, a product that's described as an all-in-one iPhone-connected smart sleep solution.

The Hatch Restore offers the functionality of a bedside reading light, meditation app, sound machine, and sunrise alarm clock, which is meant to help users fall asleep and wake up refreshed.

The app offers a personalized sleep routine with "custom content" designed to prepare the mind and body for sleep. There's a soft-glow timed reading light for use at night, more than 31 sleep sounds to block noise, and a custom sunrise alarm. A dimmable digital clock plus volume and brightness buttons are included, with the Hatch Sleep app able to be used to set everything up. The Hatch Restore can be purchased from Apple's online store for $130.

Apple today also added multiple AirPods Pro, Mac, and iPad cases to its website, which includes several options from OtterBox, Incase, Tech21, and more.

A list of what's new is below:
All of the case options can be found on Apple's website using the links above.

What is the brightness (lumens)? A general rule of thumb is minimum of 450 lumens for reading.

Does it support HomeKit? I am guessing no, since it's not mentioned anywhere.

Does it function as a Bluetooth speaker? I am guessing no, which would be a missed opportunity since it already has Bluetooth and speaker.

Hatch Restore has only Bluetooth, yet it requires Internet access. What is the Internet used for?

Is it completely dependent on the app for configuration?

Does it automatically set the time, including daylight savings?

Mate, it's a clock.
The article says..."a product that's described as an all-in-one iPhone-connected smart sleep solution." So if you think it is a clock (it probably is) but you buy into the Apple type marketing BS that makes it a "smart sleep solution" then you have drunk far too much of Tim's Kool Aid.

Maybe it's time to take a break from the Facebook political pages for a while...
Never been on FB in my life so you are talking rubbish.

this is one of those junky things you find in some catalog that either stops working after a short while or is forgotten about and tossed in a drawer along with the myriad of cables, plugs and other assorted computer knick knacks

Yes, except at about 10 times the price of the usual knick knacks...

I’ve got a Philips sunlight alarm clock. It’s great. No app, no internet connection. No “content”. Just works and that’s that.

And why do I get the sneaky feeling these guys are gonna charge a subscription to this clock?

You jest but Hatch offers $4.99/month or $49.99/year subscription called Hatch Premium, "unlimited access to snooze-inducing stories, music, meditations & more guaranteed to make falling asleep a dream."

Their spec page is now updated, and Restore has Wi-Fi. Their user privacy policy is too aggressive for my comfort zone. They collect not only personally identifiable information, but also sleeping patterns. Some of these information (but not personally identifiable information) will be shared with third-party advertisers.

We use their Hatch Rest for our kids. Great devices; have been awesome. HOWEVER, our neighbors recently had a baby. They also use the Rest. How do I know? Because their Rest shows up in our app! You can see when it is active, what color light they're using, and what music tone they're playing. Incredible invasion of privacy IMO. I alerted Hatch of this and they essentially dismissed it as a non-issue saying simply that since it isn't paired to our app, we can't control it. Uhh?

Ha, I knew it! Anything that startuppy just reeks of subscriptions and shifty privacy policies and the spectre of it turning into abandonware when, inevitably, they go belly up.

Here's the Philips, in case anybody's interested. It works beautifully for waking up gradually to light, and is 100% private :)

What is their problem?? It shouldn't show anything if not paired! Heck it shouldn't even show another device is in range unless you actively enable pairing mode on the device.

Yea probably going to be like those other idiots when they will go belly up financially and even block the time without a sub! There's a big difference between extras for a sub and any features for a sub.
