Still debating between the 15 and the 13 pro's.

love the internal of the 15 and the extra screen real estate , but every time i go to the apple store and play around with the 15 model... I just can't stand the thought of having that huge, gigantic , comically large touchpad.

i just really can't stand it from design and user usage point of view. it just looks silly to me and i can't bare the thought of actually paying a very large amount of money for one and then owning it.

am i being overly dramatic?

is anyone else here actually passed on on the 15 because of absurdly large touchpad?

is anyone here bought it while hating it and then eventually got use to it over time?

The large touchpad is okay. It's not absolutely necessary nor is it a bad thing. I don't have any issues with palm rejection when typing so you barely notice it.

I think you're giving it too much thought tbh.

Agree. Have more accidental taps of the ESCape key and no accidental touchpad activations that I can remember.

I have to say, its not something that I like, though I will admit that I don't own a 2016/2017 MBP, but its definitely a turn off for me.

I love my oversize touch pad! I will say it is a joy to use especially if you use multitouch gestures. I could see how you might think it is too big, but I would think you would get used to it. I will say people do comment on it and the reaction has been 100% positive so far. I wouldn't get the 13" just because of the trackpad. I wouldn't get the 13" at all, for the reasons you've mentioned.

Do you know what they say about people who use large track pads?

Yeah I love the trackpad on my 2017, course I have the Magic Trackpad 2 which is even larger as well... nice to have the swipe-able surface area and the palm rejection is generally pretty good - takes a bit to get used to but I don't notice it as being especially large anymore... though when I see my wife's 2013 13" the trackpad looks tiny by comparison

Once you get the individual settings dialed in and used to it, it's pretty nice to use. Once you start customizing and using multigestures extensively, it becomes very enjoyable. Palm rejection works well for most users - good experiences here for me. (Apple Pencil functionality would make it even nicer.)

I thought it looked a bit crazy but actually it was really nice to use. Didn't have any issues with palm rejection either writing a bunch of code on it.

I use a 12" rMB and a 15" MBP interchangeably, and I have never noticed any difference in using the two different sized trackpads (the keyboard is another story). Personal experience, yes, but from that I conclude that the big trackpad on the 15" is neither particularly useful, nor an annoyance.

I have it and I like it, it works very well. No problems with palm rejection or anything of the sort. At the same time I was doing equally fine with the previous size, so I'd say the new version didn't change my user experience in any meaningful way.

It goes without saying that no one will force you to buy an expensive machine whose design you don't like. But indeed, you might be overthinking the issue a little bit :)

Interesting to see so many people not having any issues at all, I played in store various times and always find using it to be problematic, I think just to big and I was getting false taps and click. I think the 13" is big, if Apple just used that size for both MBP's I think that would have been good. I actually purchased a 13", not for this reason, but I did think of the oversized track pad to be a con on the 15". However, I am still in my 14 day return period and may bring the 13" back and get a 15" down the road when I find a good deal. Will have to decide within a few days.

I've had mine for a few months now and I don't even see the touchpad as being overly large anymore... the shock value has totally worn off. Also, no issues with palm-rejection.

I had the same issue, doubted for nearly a year. Went with the 15" and haven't regretted it for a moment. When you get used to the machine the big trackpad is rather enjoyable. Palm rejection works rather well

Whilst nobody actually has an issue with their 15" models, it could well be that the OP had something different in mind... The OP was talking about a gigantic trackpad on a 15 foot MacBook Pro... I'd imagine an equally enormous trackpad.

No 'issues' here, love it. I don't understand why something smaller would be better. It does look large at first glance, but it doesn't interfere or hinder the use of the computer and so only enhances.

Rumors have it this is the touchbar for the 15 foot MBP:

It's might also be worth noting, that, IMO, once you get Better Touch Tool, the trackpad becomes even more awesome because the larger size lets you execute more complicated multi-finger gestures.
