Hauppauge HD PVR 2 (1512) Performance Issues

Anyone having video issues when using the Hauppauge HD PVR 2 (model 1512)? I have been using it with HDPVRCapture and I am not thrilled with the results. The recordings made a high data rates (13+ Mbps) are choppy and shows periodic distortion. I can tell if its the hardware or the software that's causing the problem. I'm using a 2010 Mac Mini 2.4 GHz with 8 GB of RAM.
 
I would monitor the Mini's CPU load, if maxing out, there is your problem.
 
Great suggestion! I gave this a try and the CPU usage maxed at 30%. At least we eliminated the mac itself as the problem.
