hello all, i recently purchased a macbook pro and when messing with itunes the other day i somehow have the itunes icon on my desktop in addition to the icon on my dock. i cant seem to figure out how to delete this duplicate icon. ive searched and cant find anything. whats an easy solution to this?

My only recommendation before going to town on your music is to make sure you have a backup. If you're doing a lot of file maintenance, its quite possible that you delete more then you intended. Having a backup is a nice security blanket ;)

so i was able to drag it to the trash, but when trying to open the itunes icon on my dock, it says cant open because item is in the trash. is it safe to empty the trash? or will it delete all of itunes and my music?

Ah, you dragged the actual app onto the desktop. Drag it back into the applications folder, and you'll be fine.

drag the dock icon off and have it poof away, "put back" the trashed one, and move that one to the dock.

Are you sure it is an icon and not an actual application?

EDIT: Never mind, read the reply.
