If I do the swap myself does this void the warranty? I have a 500 gig hard drive that was given to me that I'd like to put in it but I'm worried about voiding the warranty. I've looked up replacing it and it seems simple.

it's VERY simple, and no, it does NOT void the warranty.

Nope, no warranty issues (don't let apple store reps tell you otherwise). You just need the right tools. Get yourself a precision philips screwdriver set and you will use a 0 or 00 to open the case and remove the drive. Then you need a torx t6 to take the pegs out of the old drive and put them in the new one.

Yep, I have all those. Thanks!
