Have an old (2years) external HD PC configured, can I get it to work on my mac??

I have a Simple Tech External HD that I used to backup my old PC. My Mac won't see it and I chucked that junker PC I had.
Any way to get it reformatted for the mac?

I'm usually not this dumb but...
It's been collecting dust for a while and I think I assumed for some reason it didn't work.
I just plugged it in and started transferring data. DUH!
