You should check it. I thought mine was ok until I found out about the bugs a while back.
For instance smart playlists that contain criteria to look at other smart playlists don't always update the play count or last played date. Same goes for smart playlists that have nested playlists within them.
It's a well documented/talked about issue especially on the Apple forums.
It will be the first thing I check when I get ios 6.
