I was at the Apple store today trying to convince myself to upgrade from the 5s to the 7, and I tried my best to see the improvement in the display. Other than the fact that the 7 is bigger, which can help in many settings, I really couldn't say for sure that text was any more legible or that photographs/graphics were any nicer, at the same brightness setting.

Does anyone know if this has been subject to any scientific examination the past few years? I realize the contrast ratio is quite a bit higher, for example, but does the human eye notice these things?
