Have iphone launches always had supply constraints?

I walked into the Apple store on the original iPhone's launch day and bought one. Good times...

To me not for the 3GS! Walked in on launch day got out in 5min. 3G and 4 were crazy launch as for 4S and 5 I just reserved them to be pick up the next day.
