Have Snow Leopard and Bootcamp Windoz XP - Can I run Linux from flash drive?

Two Questions:
I have an old macbook running Snow Leopard and bootcamp Windoz XP.
Since I do not know how to create a third partition for Linux, is it possible to run Linux from a usb flash drive? (I have one that is about 128 gig). If possible, how would I do it?

Follow up question (assuming Iam able to run Linux from a flash drive) ....Would I run Linux after opening Snow Leopard or do I have to open Windoz XP first??
