I am pretty excited. I am able to get a 2.2 GHz SR MBP with Applecare for a pretty decent price. I know there are rumors about a new Macbook update. I just want to make sure I am safe in buying this MBP without being out of date if a new MBP were to surface soon. So..am I safe in buying this MBP?

thanks.

Excellent!! Would you pay $1400 for a 2 month old MBP 2.2 GHz SR model?

Seriously doubt there would be a MBP update anytime soon, they were only updated to SR chips a few months back

I say go for that MBP

You´re talking about a 15 inch right? And it has Applecare? Yeah I think that's a really good price (even better if it were 17"). On ebay they've been going for around 1600-1800.

BTW, I found one earlier this month online for 1500, and it was all a scam saying they had just moved to London and I'd have to wire money to them first. So just be on the lookout.

I have seen those scams on the internet as well. This sell is legit. I have been talking to him for a little while now. I am meeting up with him today to buy the MBP. I can't wait!!

I can't wait. I have a new iMac and I love it. Now with the addition of a MBP, my collection will be complete

Since I will be buying a used machine with applecare, how do I go about changing the warranty and registration information into my name? I am looking on the apple website for a link to transfer ownership. Do you know where I can find one?

thanks.

6. Transfer of Plan

You may transfer this Plan to a new owner of the Covered Equipment by sending or faxing notice of transfer to AppleCare Administration, P.O. Box 149125, Austin, TX 78714 — 9125, U.S. (fax number 512 — 674 — 8125). You must provide the Plan Agreement Number, the serial numbers of the Covered Equipment being transferred, proof of purchase of the Plan, and the name, address, telephone number and email address of the new owner.

I'm not sure if there's an easier way to do this or not, because I never have, but that's what it says to do in the applecare terms and conditions.
To ease it all you might want to type up some form with your names and addresses and all the info it requests (and ask if he has the original receipt for the Applecare) and just offer to send/fax it all in for him. That way you know its getting done.

Thanks. I will look into it.

Do you think it would be a completely new look or just a bump in the internals?
I have a feeling it's just going to be a speed bump.

I think MacWorld SF 2008 might have a greater chance Penryn MacBook Pros instead of a speed bump this year though.

I could handle it if I missed out on a speed bump in November because of the price I am buying the MBP at.
I would be a little more disappointed if they created a new look.

I am about to go meet with the seller. Are there any reasons why I shouldn't buy this MBP?

If it is missing the original OSX CDs and/or the power supply that comes with the machine, then it is more than likely stolen.

Only accept it if it has all of the accessories that delivered new. If you get an excuse like "I just moved and I lost the CDs" then walk away.

Thanks for the tips. I will definitely keep that in mind when I meet him.
