Shortly after the release of the 15-inch Haswells, there were several (extremely) active threads bemoaning unevenly lit, yellow-tinted screens.

Despite all warnings, I purchased one. Unsurprisingly, my screen was unevenly lit and yellow-tinted. I returned it. :(

Have these issues been ironed out, or should I wait until the next generation?

Thanks!

Had both 13" and 15" rMBP in the last few months, no yellow screen issues, but image retention issue still exists (on my 13" at least)

This has been a problem in all IPS technology displays. I'm not sure that I've ever heard a 100% reliable explanation for it. The best is that yellowing occurs when the fragile panels are placed in the display, making resolution tricky for Apple and others. Check out the iPad, iPhone, and iMac forums. They all have yellow screen issue threads.

The threads pop up around updates but inevitably get buried because the people who care have moved on and the people that don't are still here (or they just got lucky).

If you're waiting for a solution to this problem, you might have to wait until a post-IPS world...whenever that is.

Here are some tests for anyone rolling their eyes right now ("I don't see any yellowing!! These people are crazy!").

Not all IPS panels are the same. There are different types.
