A few weeks ago my magsafe T style adapter became slightly frayed near the end which was causing it to intermittently cut out when it was charging. So yesterday I bought a new L style adapter and when I plugged it in, it wouldn't charge. When I removed the battery and immediately put it back in, the adapter would now charge normally.

Now every time after my Macbook has charged I need to remove the battery and put it back in in order for the magsafe adapter to charge. I never had this problem with the old T style adapter.

Model identifier:Macbook 3,1
The adapter is the appropriate 60 W adapter for Macbooks.
