Have to swipe 3-4 times to go back a page in safari

Anyone else notice this? I have never been able to swipe back to previous page without having to do it multiple times. The first few times will just move the page a bit to the side, but it just snaps back without going backwards.

Driving me NUTS!!

And than it will sort of reload and it takes forever. It was driving me crazy. CMD + Left solved it for me. Such a relief.
