My dad decided he wants to give the iPhone a try. I'm giving him my old 3GS which I haven't used in about two years.

It is jailbroken and unlocked and running iOS 4.0.1. Unfortunately, most apps from Apple's App Store requires the phone to be at iOS 4.1.

Is there a way to upgrade from 4.0.1 to 4.1 and keep the phone Jailbroken and unlocked? Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks for the response. Do you recommend he upgrades to 4.1 or something higher?

He mainly wants to access the Apple App Store and have an unlocked device.

If you preserve baseband, you can upgrade it all the way up to 5.1.1 and jailbreak that. That will maximize compatibility with app store apps.
