I recently bought Snippet Saver, a nice looking program for saving all my coding snippets in a nice and orderly way for me to look up nice and easy. But man, I was disappointed. First of all, it doesn't do the stuff it says in the App Store, its just a pile of crApp, so Im glad I did not spend too much money on it. I tried to ask the developers if they are doing something about it, but got some meh answer from them. So I found a nice free app instead, jCodeCollector. It does the same Snippet Saver claims to do, and a lot of other stuff as well. Even color codes my snippets :)
One of the biggest problems with Snippet Saver was it did not save my snippets. It crashed my precious, and when I restarted, all my snippets where p00f! So not much saving in Snippet Saver. :(
Ofcoz I did mention this to the SS devs, and they suggest I have to update my system. Hrmf, I always hit update the second I read about an update here on MacRumors, and often I download it even before the news hits the sleepy front page here. (no hard feelings, MacRumors?)
Long story short, here is my last reply to the guy(s) who made Snippet Saver:

Im running OSX 10.6.7 on my mac, with latest security update installed as well, so updating wont make a difference.
So, to the sharp end of this mail:
You say Snippet Saver has a much nicer interface than jCodeCollector?
Ok, both are grey! :D
Snippet Saver does not have disturbing fields for tags and language selection.
Snippet Saver is cleaner because it does not show line numbers.
Snippet Saver has this fantastic "View" menu, but its always deactivated so it doesnt confuse users. But hey, its still there! Just in case the toolbar is shown, or needs to be customized, even its not implemented yet. And color coding code is just for ******s, right? So thats why Snippet Saver doesnt have it! Yay!

Further, the features in Snippet Saver is much much better. Because LESS is MORE, the lack of the following features makes Snippet Saver BETTER!

Feature Snippet Saver jCodeCollector
Saving snippets Yes Yes
Import clipboard Yes Yes
Export clipboard Yes Yes
Categories No Yes
Searching No Yes
Metatagging No Yes
Comments No Yes

So, you are right, Snippet Saver is a real winner! It underperforms to its closest competitor, and it even costs more! (jCC is free) Wow, Im really impressed! Your developers really deserves every penny they get!
Maybe I should send a copy of this mail to Apple and ask for a refund.

By the way, where is that Icon you are talking about? The Icon that makes it really easy to do something from the menu bar? And... not everybody remembers CMD+F is toggeling full screen. But a button for exiting the full screen mode is probably just for *******, right?

You could send me a full refund as a iTunes gift card, because I dont want any of your crApps installed on my precious mac, ever again!

Regards,

So guys, please share your stories here, so we don't burn our cash on the same crApps you did :p
