My new iPhone 4 quit ringing and sending out text alerts today and would vibrate only. I went in and checked the sound settings, made sure the speakers were working, and tried changing ringers and I could hear them. I ended up doing a restore and re-sync, fussing the entire time thinking that there was a major problem. With all the reported problems, I knew for sure I had another issue to add to everyone's list. Two hours later a bulb went off in my head....the switch on the side was flipped. DUH!

I cleaned my 3G with Windex every day. I began to wonder whynthe screen was no longer smooth. I'll never do that with my IP4 or iPad.

oooh. ouch. Aside from water and a micro fiber cloth, you shouldn't use any kind of chemicals on a coated screen

Upgraded my 3G to iOS 4.0.... very stupid of me to do that

Lol now that was the dumbest thing ever lol wow

To the OP. I did that before with my old iPhone, though I didn't goto that extreme because luckily my light bulb came on before hand ha

I did pretty much the same thing, but differently. On my old laptop, I couldn't connect to the internet one day, so I rebooted, checked all the settings, reset the modem and wireless router, etc. Then it dawned on me - the wifi switch on the side of the computer!! Ahh!

Boy that is odd. I thought everyone actually used the switch to turn the ringer on and off on a regular basis. I guess I'm wrong.

I can't imagine not checking the switch if it's not ringing.....

It's okay, OP, user error/duh moments account for many an angry rant here on MacRumors. Glad you realized your mistake before staring one of those threads.

I keep holding it with my left hand.

Again, per Steve, user error. :p

Was texting while making a pizzapop and accidentally put my 3g into the microwave beside the plate with the pizzapop. Almost caused a fire and cost me a new phone + microwave.

Yes, I turned the microwave on and didn't notice till the phone vibrated about 10 seconds later. By then it was too late as I was far from the kitchen.

I learned from my mistakes and never take any of my phones into the kitchen.

had my phone on my lap in the car, got out to ghost ride (get out of the car while its still moving to dance ((stupid i know))) and phone fell but only got a little scratched:)

Stupid thing I have done with my iPhone:

Browsed a MacRumors thread about iPhone4 Reception issues.
