About a year ago I moved from Upstate New York (Syracuse) down to Atlanta for a job. Thankfully I no longer need to be down here and in a few days I'll be moving back north. :)

All the packing I've been doing lately has got me curious - how many of you guys have moved cross country? Bonus points if you've done it more than once!

Depends how many miles qualify as "cross country." I've moved more than 2,000 miles twice, lesser distances (around 300 miles or more) a few more times.

Kansas to Ontario. Instead of moving a bunch of stuff I literally sold or gave away almost all of my stuff before moving. I'm not a fan of accumulating junk.

Not quite cross country, but I moved from Florida to Colorado in 2005. I drove with my daughter while my wife and son flew.

Not quite cross country, but I recently in the past year finished a move from Georgia to a medium town a little north of NYC due to my employer transferring me, I won't be leaving this town any time soon.

The only issue I ran into was having almost a dozen cars shipped up here, and still having to drive a moving U-Hual, and having the GF drive one hoping she didn't wreck it in the 1400 mile trek.

A few times:

Minnesota - Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania - Arizona
Arizona - Québec
Québec - Arizona
Arizona - Oregon

Yep. I moved from Michigan to California. Then to Japan and back to California. Lastly I went back to Michigan from California. I did a few short stints in South Korea and Australia.

Well my country is a little smaller than your but;
Essex (down South) to Tyne & Wear (Up North)
Back to Essex
Essex to South London
South London to North London
North London to West Midlands

Not sure where I would move to if I did again, but as I have taken up photography, I wish I lived a little closer to the coast!

fly the friendly highways.

if u-haul had frequent flyer points, i'd own the whole damn company by now i've moved so many times.

traveler by nature, and then joined the military. fight for freedom, pick-up trash, and move often while getting paid to stay in shape. not a job for everyone, but i sure had fun. :)

Maine, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia are the only places in north american i haven't been yet, and the're on the list to visit soon. been waiting along time to put those pins in the map...

Twice. Seattle to Philly in 2009 then back again 2 months ago. 3000 miles each way.

Both times I drove a 26' uhaul out with one car (girlfriends) on the back and then later drove my personal car over. So basically did it 4x.

Its not bad. The only issue I had each time was the time constraint. Would be nice to see the country instead of plow through.

I'm from NY as well, Queens though. Moved a bit more south to Miami.

Switzerland > Connecticut
Connecticut > Switzerland
Switzerland > New York
New York > Switzerland

Only a matter of time before I move back. :D

...Hawaii to Germany

Are you happy? :D

Main stations for me were from 'east' Germany (West-Berlin) to north Germany back to Berlin and now to to the south (Munich). Boring. :D
It's kinda fun to compare these different regions and mentalities, though.

Spent some time also in Switzerland and Barcelona - each a year or so.

I was never stationed here in while I was in the Army, I didn't want to be a treadhead. I'm here because my very German wife hated Hawaii, I was offered a job with the VA but but she wasn't having it. In the end I'm glad I followed her instead of the other way around but I do miss Hawaii very much!

philippines > toronto > ottawa
i was young back then and most of my stuff was left behind in my parents house. it`s true what they say, as long as you have a job, don`t worry how far you end up in. stuff gets replaced.
