I can't seem to find anything on this, will the 2018 iPhones be 64GB and 256Gb, or is there a chance of a 512gb iPhone, either 2018 or 2019?

Too early to say. Credible rumors with more detailed specs usually arrive by late August.

512 GB of storage for an iPhone is ludicrous amount storage, as that is half a terabyte and I could see that being more specific towards the iPad. Even 256 GB of memory is an incredible amount to consume even for some of the heaviest users with media, photos and applications. As far as what Apple offer for certain models with storage, that’s the most difficult part to determine where they will start the base storage.

It's sometimes hard to realize that iPhone may have twice bigger storage than my local drive... But I'm glad that some day I may have a good external drive that will be able to make calls and send text messages :D

I think there will be a chance we will be seeing it with the plus sized iPhone X.

I think 512GB will show up once phone makers start putting 8K camera modules into phones.

Very few people NEED 256gb, and even fewer people could come close to using 512. Apple is all about making money, and a 512gb wouldn’t sell in large numbers, period.

That’s what was said about the 256gb...and the 128gb....and the 64gb...and the 32 go.

But every year they sell quite a bit of their largest capacity model.

I’m getting a 512gb model btw. :)
Guess there is a market for it after all.

Apple knows that for the average consumer, they will use under 100gb. 128gb was ideal, that’s why they scrapped it. People were afraid 64gb wasn’t enough, so they spent more and went with 256gb. VERY few people need 256, and even less could come close to realistically needing 512. I would say anyone filling an iPhone with 256gb of content would probably be better served with something like an iPad. How many shows and 4K videos can you fit onto 256gb? An obscene amount for sure.

Yeah...no.
Not even close.

Still Not enough.
I also have an iPad Pro with 512gb
Hoping the next one has a 1tb of storage.

Go to an Apple store on any iPhone launch day the highest tiers are always the first go.

You’re by far an exception. My wife takes a ton of pics and has used 35/64gb on her phone. What do you do to need that much storage? I’m not dismissing you, I’m honestly curious.

I’m really not.

It adds up.

I have a 256 X with about 70GB on it, so 64 is not enough but 256 is miles to much. 128 would have been ideal.
I’m using 140 GB of my 256GB so I’m
Inbetween 128 and 256. My last 2 phones were 128GB and I was always on the cusp, with only about 5GB empty space so I definitely needed the 256GB

If you want to look at market projections from actual DRAM and NAND manufacturers, 512GB probably won't come until 2019.

You personally use a lot of space, I’m not disputing that. What I’m saying is you’re a very rare case.

I disagree, from what I have seen I’m not a rare case at all. I have some clients that travel with three or 4 iPads. All filled with different data for different purposes. Different users, different needs.

Apple keeps increasing their data tiers and they keep selling out so they will keep increasing data tiers until users stop buying it.
It’s deceptively simple.

You’re like someone who makes 150k a year and thinks because it’s easy for you, everyone can do it. I’d be willing to bet that 1 in 50 people with a 256gb phone have it filled up. Regardless of who you know, that’s very rare.

I have about 96GB left so plenty but 64GB would not be enough...rather have more than not enough.

Not as rare as you think, 200k a year is relative let’s say greater than 200k, wait that’s too big of sample number.

As of 2015 There were over 2,000 billionaires in the the world and over 15 million multi millionaires.
Most use Apple products some, use them exclusively.

I dont know what that would prove, we don’t know the same 50 people, Different users different needs.

This. 512 GB would be a pricey cost for an iPhone of that model that would not be attractive, and you would have very few iPhone owners who would be willing to upgrade to 512 GB if they could not even get past 256 GB of storage. Even 128 GB is likely more than sufficient enough for a large portion of iPhone owners.

Given Apple’s history I doubt we will see any capacity increase this year, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to not see it next year either.

There's a very valid reason to get an iPhone with as much storage as available: Keeping movies on the phone.

In a dream world, someone could buy iTunes movies or rip DVDs and stream them when desired over wifi to watch them from the Apple server or your own. But more often than not (In my experience) wifi speeds don't live up to what you sign up for so dam movies won't stream. You have to decide what you might want to watch tomorrow, then download it overnight while you're asleep. The cloud movie thing with iTunes movies can be a miserable experience if you've got slow wifi.

With a large capacity iPhone, 256 GB & up, you can keep several movies permanently stored on the device to be watched any time and anywhere. I know my next phone will have the largest capacity available.
