Hey guys...I wanted you to be aware of the fact that we received 3 new laptops (2 iBooks and 1 17” powerbook) and none of them will boot from external HDs or the server. We managed to install the build using target disk mode but it won’t boot from that either.

We haven’t had any problems w/ iBooks until this batch. These are 1GHz ones and our others have all been 933. I’m tempted to send them back and get the 933 model—we may have to.

We tried zapping the PRAM, removing the installed RAM and resetting the PMU. I also ran a combo update on my external HD while booted from the laptop, but that didn’t work either…
we also had this problem when we received our first G5. The problem was that the Setup Assistant would not allow the machine to boot from another device without an account on it.
So we had to boot the machine go through the original setup process then shut it down and boot from our FW drives or netboot.
If that does not work, then try to update the OS after imaging via target mode.

Have any of you guys come across a easy fix for this issue?
