Sorry, yet another newbie issue. When I had Logic Pro 9 I had no trouble slicing up beats (such as the Amen Break) or stab sequences and converting regions to a new sampler track so that I can then re-arrange the 'regions' in new patterns on the piano roll to come up with new beats or stab patterns etc. However, I'm having issues with Logic Pro X when I'm trying to slice up the iconic "landlord - I Like it" stabs.
I followed this video on how to import audio, stretch it to fit the bar, create transient markers but then rather than double clicking the audio track to bring up the option "convert regions to a new sampler track" I have to go up to the menu bar and find this option under the track menu. However, when I do this the 'notes' that are created on the piano roll aren't right, some notes have part of the next note on as well, and then some notes have the start missing.
When I 'sliced' the audio track using detect transients I made sure that the transient markers were in the right place, and even previewed each region to make sure it was right. However, as soon as I convert regions to a new sampler track they're all wrong again.
I've found a way around it so far by adjusting the track tempo to match the audio sample rather than using flex time, going through the process of slicing, converting to new sampler track, and then adjusting the tempo back to what I want and this works. I can only assume that there is an issue with using flex time and then slicing, but I can't for this life of me figure out what. Can anyone help me as I'd rather not have to go through the fiddly way of matching the track tempo to the audio file. This one was an awkward 129.76bpm
