Hey all. I have done a bit of research and have come up with nothing, so I'm posting here in the hopes someone might be able to help me out.
After doing a fresh install of Yosemite after a botched upgrade, I have been running into problems with my sound output device and volume settings. Whenever I reboot my system (MacBook Pro, Mid 2012) the default audio device automatically switches back to the internal speakers instead of the USB speakers set as the default and are connected. The volume also resets to 50%. When I manually change the default output device to the USB speakers, the volume always jumps to 75% only for that device. It doesn't matter which USB speaker is connected (I use one at home and one while out and about) or when they are connected (pre or post boot). I have reset PRAM a number of times and it continues to happen as if I never reset it.
I'd rather not have to do another fresh install of Yosemite due to the time it takes to restore everything over from a bootable backup (thankfully I can use the migration tool to speed it up), but if I have to I have to. I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me out before it comes to that.
Thanks ahead of time for any help you guys can give me.
PS The only major change I have made with the system is I have rEFInd installed. I don't think that would affect anything but it is the only thing I have messed around with relating to system files or default settings.
