Having Problems downsizing an .mkv video

A friend passed me a 14GB Video of his wedding and we've been wanting to see it on a Blue-Ray player via it's USB input, I only have a 4GB flash drive so I wanted to use a converter.
I tried with handbrake and the converted file can't be opened.
I tried with Roxio Toast Titanium and it has no sound.
What else should I try?
