I am using a 3GS on iOS 5.0.1, Here is an example, 10 mins earlier on twitter and the battery dropped 7%, sitting doing nothing it will drop 10% roughly an hour, I always turned push emails of anyway so thats not the issue, iCloud also off. I have notifications on for twitter etc but they never used to give any issues. Anyone any ideas?

My son has a 4th gen iPod, he plays games alot, but he can kill his battery in about 2hrs max usually 120 mins and its dead, again 5.0.1

Sounds pretty normal if you just upgraded from 4.x to 5.x, or if you restored from any backup at all. Same goes with the iPod Touch. Try restoring as new. I'm quite sure you'll see a significant improvement.
