A few months ago I was working on my Macbook pro and the screen started flickering and it become unresponsive. I could still see the mouse but it couldn't click on anything, so I held down power and it just froze at the little progress gear that appears under the apple when you start it up.
This goes on for ages and I have trouble starting even in safe mode. Sometimes when I get on I just get a Kernel panic. I took it to the Genius bar and the guy used his little scanner thing and everything came up as working properly so he told me to go home completely remove OSX and reinstall from scratch. Which I did so after about 2 hours or managing to boot from disc without the screen being a scribbly mess I completely deleted the OSX partition (the only partition I have) and completely reinstalled. It looked new again like it had just come from the factory and worked for about a day...then it all started happening again.
The main trouble is starting it up but when I do get it on it just freaks out again.
I was going to take it back tomorrow but anyone any idea what it could be or how much I am looking at spending to fix it?
Oh yeah its a late 2007 old style Mac Book pro if that helps at all.
