Greetings Ladies & Gentlemen,

I am having a really difficult time choosing a colour for my new iPhone 12 Max Pro. Initially, when I saw the announcement of the new iPhone 12 and saw all the of the available colour options being presented, I was almost certain I would go for the new Gold colour, especially because of those gold surgical grade steel sides which this time around truly looked like Gold, at least on the marketing material and the promotional images.

The Pacific Blue is another fantastic colour, its a very premium looking blue which is calm and elegant however after seeing it in videos I have come to realise that the stainless steel sides are way too dark for my liking, in some instances they almost look black like the ones on the Graphite one.

After seeing the Gold colour in videos and under various lighting conditions, to me it looks much more pale in comparison to how it was portrayed in promotional footage. Under some light it looks almost indistinguishable from white. It looks more like a beige colour and has the sides of a brighter and lighter shade of copper (bronze), not gold.

The White (Silver) colour looks great, love the white and the surgical stainless steel sides in silver look flashy but at the same time elegant and not overly attention-seeking. I prefer lighter colours instead of dark ones when it comes down to phones but my current phone which is an iPhone Xs Max is exactly this colour. Id rather change things up a bit and get myself a new colour this time around, my previous iPhone was a 6s Plus in Space Grey. I never had a Gold iPhone or a Blue one so I am trying to decide between one of those two, but both have their disadvantages, the overly dark sides of the Pacific Blue and the rather pale back of the Gold one which almost looks white.

I must say that Graphite looks also great this year, but to me this colour is too dark and boring. I use all of my phones without a case and I believe most people go for Graphite because they are going to eventually put a case on it. A naked Graphite iPhone may look great but in my personal opinion its too dark resulting in being a bit boring.

What about you people? Did you already decide which colour you are going to get? Or are you also having a very difficult time choosing a colour? Any input, recommendations as to which colour I should get? I am really struggling between Gold & Pacific Blue, Silver and Graphite look great too though.

I haven’t decided yet but I’d just reserve a few minutes in an Apple Store and make sure to see these all in person. I’m leaning towards gold or silver this year.

I had a gold 5S as a work device for a while and although I was initially opposed to the colour it somehow grew on me.

Can you get to an Apple store to take a look at the 12 Pro in personal? You need an appointment to do so too. The new iPhones 12 Pros look quite a bit different in person then that of videos and photos. The graphite’s is not dark. Gold is biege color, silver is white, Pacific Blue is unique light blue. The most accurate color shown is for each is the buy section in the Apple Store website/app.

Best way to get a good sense of the colors (outside of going to a store) is to go to YouTube and search “iPhone 12 Pro unboxing”. There are many videos uploaded on the last day or two that show the colors on all different lighting. Also, seeing the changes in reflection makes the videos more useful than photos in my opinion. And for the record, I’m struggling too!

Definitely struggling... I’ve wanted all of the colors at some point and still haven’t decided. I thought I was dead set on PB but seeing graphite has me questioning my decision. I’m worried if I get PB the novelty will wear off and I’ll be stuck with a phone color I don’t love anymore (kind of my situation with my green iPhone 11). I plan on keeping my 12 pro Max for at least 2 years (that’s the plan anyway but I never stick to it and always upgrade yearly). I worry if I go with graphite I’ll regret not getting the PB... I don’t know why the decision is so hard this year I’ve never been this indecisive on a color choice before.

To be honest, I will more than likely order the Graphite colour. Failing that (availability etcetera), the Pacific Blue.
However, what keeps popping in my mind is that I always have a case (URBN ARMR GEAR) on my device, so, does the colour really matter? I think not...

For the first time in years, I want the silver 12PM. I’ve always gone with space grey/black phones because I figured it would immediately go into a case. I’m so happy that the squared edges are coming back, I’m going case-less. Just waiting for 11/6 to pre-order.

Same here. Can't seem to decide on a color and don't know why. It has never been this hard. My last two iPhones were silver and I was sure I'd get the silver one again, because I prefer the silver stainless steel sides over the colored ones. But watching unboxing video after unboxing video, I can't seem to find THE perfect color. Except for PB. That one is definitely out of the picture.

ETA: I prefer the lighter iPhones over the darker ones because of the contrast of the dark lenses against a light back. Out of the 6 iPhones I had, 4 were light (3 silver, 1 gold). With the iPhone 12 Pro, I have such a hard time deciding because I neither like the stark white of the silver nor the light beige of the gold. The graphite looks appealing, but I fear it would bore me after some time and I‘m planning on keeping this one for the next two years. I’m curious to see what you guys will be choosing in the end. Thankfully, we still have some time left to choose 😬

I bought the gold and pacific blue colors this weekend. Originally I ordered the blue for myself, the gold was calling to me, so I bought that on Saturday and my wife and I agreed that we'd each keep 1. It was really really hard to make up my mind... I loved them both, but in the end, my wife liked the blue, so I gave her that one and took the gold. Here's what I'll say about both.

The blue is nice, and if I hadn't owned the green from last year, I'd probably have wanted the blue. The blue and green are very similar. The gold is definitely muted on the back, but it works. The gold on the sides is a little too bright traditional gold for my liking, but it's still very nice looking.

Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the colors. They all look great. In my personal opinion, the blue and gold are nicest, and I literally loved them both the same.

I found I needed to see them in person. Although I am purchasing a pro and not a PM, I went to pick up my pacific blue yesterday and ended up hating it. I am now waiting for the silver. I realized I prefer the lighter colored phones. I've always had white or silver and had chosen the pacific blue to be different. It's shocking how different they look in person but at least you will be able to see them in natural light and get it right. You'll know when you see it!

Try narrowing your choice down to two (2) colors, and buy the one you think you’ll like the best. Once it arrives, use it for 14 days. If you aren‘t loving the color, return it for your 2nd choice color.

I’m debating between Gold and Graphite.

I think am going to make a reservation to the apple store, I went to Verizon and T-Mobile stores but they have them so tied down that you can’t see the back

I'm debating also, but leaning towards silver.

If you get bored with the look, you can always change or add a case, and silver and graphite make that easier.

I've been debating myself, much more than usual. Typically I will just get whichever Pro option is closest to black (the black matte 7 is my gold standard).

This year with the Pacific Blue and Graphite, the choice isn't nearly as clear-cut - I've also been debating about the black 12.

Saw all three in person today, and I'm leaning towards Graphite, even though it isn't as dark as I'd like (although much like the Pacific Blue, lighting plays a big part in the perceived color). The black 12 looked good, and I especially appreciated the more matte black outer casing, but overall the phone just felt a bit less "premium" to me compared to the Graphite Pro.

Hopefully next year when they inevitably tweak the colors again, they will have a Pro option that is closer to the matte black 7 of my dreams, but for now I think Graphite will do the job well enough.

Can’t decide between Graphite and Pacific Blue for my Pro Max. I always get the gray/black option (except a Gold 5S and 6), but it’s starting to get boring now. Picked up the Graphite 12 Pro for my wife so its nice to see that color in person for awhile. But I might just try out this Blue for once.

I’ve never been so torn between the colors. It’s a toss up between the graphite and pacific blue for the pro max. I’m leaning towards graphite, but damn I dunno. I currently have a midnight green 11 pro max, and to be honest it’s sort of similar to the pacific blue. I’ve never had black surprisingly, so that’s why graphite is slightly ahead. Ughh, suppose I have time and I’ll be watching endless YouTube unboxings lol.

I completely understand... I'm going to give you advice I wish I would take. Are you going to be using a case or no? If you're using solid colored cases you'll never seen like 95% of your phone anyways. Clear cases are another story but I typically don't like clear cases since they either pick up too much fingerprints/smudges or turn yellow. If you're going caseless then yeah I see where you would have problems picking.

But other things to consider. How long are you keeping your phone for? Are you going to regret the color down the road? I feel like silver/graphite is the safest color option. BUt if you're upgrading every year or two, or using cases it won't matter. But safer colors look better with more cases.

Thanks for the reply. I think I’m coming closer to a decision. You have a good point about using a case. I indeed plan on using a case even though I don’t want to. I’m leaning now 60-40 for the graphite. I’ve never had the blackish color and have always wanted it. And I feel like the PB is somewhat close to my midnight green 11PM. So I’m feeling pretty good about the graphite at the moment. But we do have some time so I guess we shall see lol.

I’m in the same boat.
