Having trouble accessing my root/User file from Finder via Netatalk

I'm trying to experiment with changing app icons. I installed netatalk and successfully accessed my iPhone from my MacBook's finder. I can access most files, however, when I click on root -> User, it disappears for a moment and then reappears unopened. I am unable to access this file after many, many tries. Anybody know why this is?
