Having Trouble Exporting an HD Video on iMovie

Hello. I'm currently running iMovie '09 8.0.6.

I just finished making a project and would like to export it in HD using the YouTube sharing option. This is not my first time attempting to do so but this is my first time having trouble with it.

All the videos I've been importing/working with have been in .avi format; these have all successfully exported in HD. However the video that isn't giving me the option to upload in HD was recorded as a .mov file. Is this the cause of the problem? If not, why is it I'm being declined the option to export in HD?
