On my iPhone 5 I was able to sync VLC and put on mkv files and successfully play them. Sometimes 1080p would be a bit iffy, but usually 720p played fine and the audio always worked. Well I synced VLC to my iPhone 6 and for some reason audio won't work with mkv files. I tried it with the latest episode of The Walking Dead in 720p and Dragonball Z Battle of the Gods in 1080p and neither worked. Headphones and flipping the ringer switch didn't do anything, I also noticed that when I change the volume with the side buttons, the volume slider doesn't move. However, I also tried an avi 624x352 version of an episode of Supernatural and the audio worked fine and the volume slider changed when I used the side buttons.
I'm trying to figure out if this is an iOS 8 issue or an iPhone 6 issue, or if it's another variable. Anyone else have any luck getting mkv files to work on iOS 8? Since it's now been taken off the App Store twice, I don't think we'll be seeing an update so a fix is a little iffy.
I'm also curious to find out if these videos are stretched since the app itself is stretched.
