Having trouble with iOS 4.0 GM jailbreak on 3G

I already installed 4.0 GM onto my 3G and I'm trying to jailbreak it using redsn0w and OS4 beta 4. Once I run redsn0w and it installs cydia, it fails to reboot and gives me the connect phone to itunes error. When I put it in itunes it says it's in recovery mode and needs to restore. I tired restoring it, but then it failed with the normal 3.1.3 firmware so I tried to restore it to the 4.0 GM which worked. Again I tried to jailbreak it but it failed when trying to reboot after installing Cydia. What am I doing wrong? I'm reading the guides and apparently it is suppose to be fine after this step.
