Hi,

I have 2 Macintosh HD alias files on my desktop, both created on the same day and are 135KB each in size. Have I accidentally created them and can they be deleted? What is the purpose of an alias file? I have searched the forums and cannot find any reference to them.

Thanks in anticipation of your help.

An alias is like a shortcut in Windows. It points to a file or folder or app. Yes, you can delete an alias, but the target will remain. If you want to see the target, right-click on the alias and select "Show Original".
