I am thinking about buying the new Sony Sony HDR-HC1 HDV camcorder which does HD capture in HDV format to tape.

Does anyone know if this camera will work with my Mac and work with FC Express and iMovie?

It's a lot of cake, but I have a new daughter so I want to capture her at such a magical age. But if the camera doesn't work with the Mac, it's a show stopper. (As it should be.)

Thanks for any advice you may have.

I know that Final Cut Pro HD 5.0 fully (and natively) supports the new HDV format. However, as far as FCP Express and iMovie are concerned, you might want to check Apple's website.

Just venturing a guess, but I think it is called iMovie HD for a reason?

I say go for it.

Oh yeah, tell us how it goes, I am thinking about one myself

Thanks all. It doesn't ship for another couple of weeks, but I will follow-up when I buy it.

Well has anyone got one of these in their hands. Is it as good as they say it is?
