Hi,
I want to capture some of this spring's Michigan soccer matches, and I'm looking into doing it with an HD camcorder, because I'm not pleased with the quality of my current SD camcorder.

My goals:
+Highest resolution possible at cheapest price.
+Storing the video digitally on a large hard drive(s).
+Having the ability to make simple edits to the video (cutting and snipping).

Right now, I'm looking at the HDR-HC3 for $740 from http://www.zoommania.com/hdrhc3.html.

I understand it might be better to go with 720p, but that doesn't seem financially reasonable, right?

I looked at the Xacti HD1, and it seemed pretty bad. I should avoid it right?

Can I use just normal MiniDV tapes for HD recording?

And any HD camcorder will work with iMovie, right?

I know I'm all over the place, so many thanks for any thoughts!
