So my HD has finally died on my Macbook. The system waits to boot afterwards finally shows an icon circle-backslash symbol. If I boot into Snow Leopard Installation Disk and use Disk Utility, it states that my HD is fine, and producing a check says it is ok with final message, "Updating boot support partionions for the volume is required"

While I'm upgrading my HD I have a few other options of upgrading. For about a year now my keyboard has not worked, and my battery has been dead. I have the original amount of RAM, what can I put in to upgrade and how much? Is there anything else that I can look into upgrading while the computer is apart?

If I take the Macbook into Apple for HD replaced, about how much does that cost?

If I do it myself, what HD should I replace it with? I'm looking to replace my HD with whatever Apple uses or is now currently using. Where I would I purchase one? For the keyboard issue while the computer is apart, what do I need to look for to fix that issue as well?

Overall is it best to take in and maybe Apple can fix everything, or do it myself?

Thanks
