Hello,
I just bought a 160 gb external hard drive off of ebay, I paid for them to have it formatted, as I don't know a whole lot about it myself. I purchased this HD to backup my DVD collection, but I quickly found out that I am not able to save my files on the HD.
I am assuming it was formatted to Fat32 (as it's compatable for Windows OS as well os OSX) The problem that I believe I am running into is that Fat32 will only allow me to save files that are less than 4 gb in size.
Does anyone know how to get around this? I know that there is another format that I can change it too, but I'm not really sure how to do this. I believe the format is HFS? Please help!!! :)

Assuming you connect the drive to your mac and can see it in Disk Utility, follow these steps:

Oh, and NEVER pay someone to format your drive. It's too easy. Just ask us, we're free!

Great, Thanks for the quick reply too! I will try that and hopefully that will solve my problem. :) Thanks again.
