HD iMovie exporting / which media player to use?

I have a 1080i HF100 and have successfully imported into iMovie 08, opened the .MOV event clips in iMovie 06 and ready for editing. What is the best export setting to maintain the highest quality (especially if not streaming)?

What is the best/least buggy 720/1080 media player? PS3, Xbox, Popcorn Hour, or just deal with AppleTV's 540/30p to keep life simple?
