Okay so I just bought Transcendence (2014) on iTunes and I got the HD version. But when I went to it on my hard drive and right click on it and choose properties it say 640 x 266 but when I click get info on it in my iTunes library it says 1914x792 which still isn't TRUE 1080p which is 1920x1080. I haven't played it yet to see if it really is in that resolution because I don't know if it will let me return it if I already played it. Should I contact apple support and get it returned and get a different movie or what because 720p might be considered HD to them but 640 x 266 is completely unacceptable. I was thinking I would get 1920 x 1080 or at least close to it.

Could you delete it and redownload since it will be in the Apple Cloud?

their 1080P says it is 3.88 GB
Maybe since it says something higher than 720p, it is bumped to 1080p?

Also just a heads up, just because a movie isn't 1920x1080, doesn't mean it's not 1080p. Most movies have different aspect ratios, so they won't say 1920x1080.

You have the HD version. As noted by benh911f, "1080p" is a bit of a misnomer as it refers to the vertical resolution of a 16:9 picture and most movies aren't in 16:9.
