HD only video downloads? Ouch.

So I went to download the Avengers to my iPhone & iPad this morning and was disappointed by the fact that we can now only load HD movies onto our iThingys.
Even with a 64GB iPhone that's going to be cutting it pretty close to the bone, especially when I load up for long trips.
I've checked iTunes and Video settings on my phone, does anyone know of a way to turn that off?

I did a standard of that movie last night. At the very bottom of the page is a link that says view in SD.

Well I want to have the movie in HD to watch on Apple TV, but when downloading to my phone from iCloud we used to have an option when we hit the download button.

No okay, I see what you're saying... you have to do that from the iTunes product page. I've always done it from the 'Purchased' page where you can view all the movies you've purchased.

It works well enough, but not as convenient.
