Hi everyone,

So - while I wait to find replacement screws for my Arctic Accelero S3 cooler (which is supposed to be attached to my Radeon 5770), I currently have my back-up video card with me: a GeForce GTS 250 1GB (or otherwise read by my Mac as an 8800GT 1GB). However, while this card performs very nicely, it has quite an annoying fan...

So, out of desperation, I ripped open this Dell we have, jacked its passively-cooled Radeon 6450, and stuck it into the Mac Pro in hopes of having it work. Whelp, I turned the machine on, waited for the blank screen to go away, and suddenly saw the desktop! It works just fine!

Not flashed, no added drivers, NOTHING - it works out of the box. It may not be too much of a surprise for some, but it's certainly lucky that I haven't had issues with it so far.

I would recommend this card to anyone looking for a cheap card for their Mac Pro 1,1/2,1. While I can't wait to get my Radeon 5770 back in order, I'm still pleased with this card for the most part. It isn't as good as my 5770, but it's getting the job done silently and well. Plus, this modern-ish card will retail today for probably about $30-40 or so. When I bought it on sale about 2-3 years ago, it was about $50.

Here is a video of its performance and confirmation that it works without any extra cables attached. Maybe this could be a great card for someone who doesn't want to pour money into their machine. I was lucky to get my 5770 for around $70-80, and that's still a bit of money. (And, after all that, the fan was worn out and very loud).
