Dolby's own focus is on streaming services and music, both of which use DD+ w/Atmos, not TrueHD. As such, I can't believe Apple will be pursuing TrueHD passthrough in the near future.
Am I missing something, but isn't the upcoming spacial audio in Apple Music going to be Atmos? I'm hoping this means I'll be able to send spacial audio to my Sonos Arc over HDMI 2.1's eARC (current ATV4k supports HDMI 2.0 ARC connections).

Their spatial audio ought to use HRTF brain-delusion. So it only needs 2-channel transmission.
I am not sure, if using speakers instead of headphones will weaken the illusion or not.
PS Still no reason to hope their Atmos music will use lossless TrueHD instead of lossy DD+.
