I've been noticing my SSD eating up storage on its own lately. I was at 12gb of free storage 1 week ago. Noticed I was down to 4.5gb today. I haven't downloaded anything large in months and have deleted most of the useless applications.

I downloaded a cleaner (haven't used it) to check and see what kind of useless stuff it would delete. I noticed I had some old iPhone iTunes back up which I ended up deleting. Deleted some cached stuff that was pointless (I think apps can be "re-caching" themselves which might be eating up my storage). Other than that I don't know why my storage is being eaten up.

I have no idea where my 8gb of free storage went. I checked activity monitor for something fishy but am not such a big connaisseur in mac malware. Couldn't spot anything out of the ordinary.

Any suggestions?

Using a mid 2011 macbook air 128gb sdd 1.7ghz i5. Never had an issue with it before. Only thing I notice is that safari is painfully slow these days and I end up using chrome.
