HD space needed for Parallels & Windows XP

I am looking at upgrading to a newer MacBook Pro. My current one has 50 GB to 60 GB available and a newer computer would give me at least 40 GB of space.

The new computer will get Parallels 8 and Windows (probably just XP). Does anybody know how much HD space those will require?

I will probably not install much in the way of Windows programs. I just need XP in order to work remotely.
