Hi guys,

I've picked up a couple of new (large) hard drives recently and I was wondering how people usually test new hard drives for bad sectors, damage during shipping, and any other issues on a Mac. It looks like most of the manufacturer Windows-centric utilities involve booting off a CD into a DOS environment, but I don't think that'd work for me anyways because I'll be using my drives as externals and don't want to have to install them into my iMac to test them. So what utilities do people use to test their new hard drives that can work on externals? I've got W7 set up in boot camp, so it doesn't necessarily need to be Mac software.
